Anagram Game Review: Gramma loses 31 to 16.

After 4 DAYS 2 HOURS AND 6 MINUTES, this one had the feel of a long, bruising contest that kept tightening and slipping away in the same breath. I came out of it with 16 to 31, and I’ll tell it straight: Word Wave Weaver earned that edge with relentless pressure and cleaner finishing. I had my moments, real ones, but the scoreboard never lied.

The opening tempo came fast. Word Wave Weaver struck first with MICA, and I answered with FLUB from the community letters, trying to set my own tone early. But the response was immediate and sharp: BOATFUL came off my FLUB, and that was the first hard body blow. From there, the board started to feel like it belonged to the other side for stretches, with MICRA growing out of MICA and then THORN reaching through my THRO. I kept punching back with RENO, but ATONER took it away, and the pressure never really let up.

Then I found a spark. I stole MICRA with MINICAR, and later I turned HORNET into ANOTHER in a move that felt like I’d finally caught a clean rhythm. I pushed ANOTHER further into ANTIHERO, and that stretch had some bite to it. Still, Word Wave Weaver kept answering with authority, taking MINICAR with CRIMINAL and stretching ATONER into OUTEARN. Every time I landed a solid shot, the return came back heavy.

The middle game was a grind of gains and counters. I worked in BRUH, then lengthened it to RHUMB, only to watch it become RHUMBA. I put down AVOW, SAUL, GOOK, and GIFT, trying to keep the board active and the tempo in my hands. But the opponent was everywhere. GRIFTS came off my GIFT, DUALS got taken into UNLOADS, and CRUDE was pulled into REDUCER. When I stole GRIFTS with FROSTING, that felt like a hard-earned answer, not a turning point. Word Wave Weaver simply had more gears.

I did keep swinging. MOOK landed, and I later stole OUTEARN with ROUTEMAN, which was one of my cleaner moments late. I also put down BARN, but even that got clipped into BARREN. By then the shape of the game was clear: I was fighting for every inch, while Word Wave Weaver was stacking conversions and extending control. The last note from my side was CRAZE off CZAR, a proud finish, but not enough to close the gap.

So I’ll take the loss with respect. Word Wave Weaver played a stronger, sharper game, and I won’t pretend otherwise. But I’m not leaving empty-handed. I had resistance, I had some clean steals, and I kept the contest alive all the way through. On a day like this, that matters. I’ll remember the pressure, the answers, and the moments where I made them work for every point.
